Moll Brau: The Living Room

03.02.24 - 04.01.24

︎Exhibition Checklist

12.26 in conjunction with Martha’s (Austin, TX) is pleased to present Moll Brau: The Living Room, a collection of six graphite drawings that traverse the intimate landscape of transformation and creation. This series emerges from Brau's personal journey through the early stages of pregnancy, a period marked by profound physical and emotional shifts.

The Living Room is an immersive narrative that captures the essence of human resilience. Each drawing is a chapter in a visual memoir, reflecting on the artist's intimate experiences with a raw vulnerability as she moves through her pregnancy. She navigates the delicate interplay between loss and hope, struggle and growth, articulating the deeply personal yet universal process of life's continuous transformations.

Moll Brau (b. Shreveport, Louisiana, 1987) graduated with a BFA from Louisiana State University. Brau works across several disciplines with a special interest in feminine identity, the body, and how objects and events relate to and redefine our understanding of these concepts. Brau has exhibited in group shows at Inman Gallery (Houston, TX), “stilltsville” with Half Gallery in Miami, Dallas Art Fair with Martha’s, as well as a solo exhibition with Rusha and Co (Los Angeles, CA) and a solo exhibition at Expo Chicago with Martha’s in 2023. Moll Brau lives and works in Austin, Texas.
