NADA Miami, 2022
11.30.22—12.03.22
12.26 is thrilled to present new paintings by Los Angeles-based artist Theodora Allen for NADA Miami 2022. The artist continues to explore her visual lexicon of shooting stars, infinities, moons and hourglasses —all measuring acts of metamorphoses that inhabit spaces of flux. Allen engages with these symbols as metaphor for themes surrounding cycles and regeneration—the making and unmaking of nature.
Theodora Allen (b. 1985, Los Angeles) received her MFA in painting from the University of California (2014), and her BFA in painting from ArtCenter College of Design (2009). In 2011, she completed a residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Madison, Maine. Recent solo exhibitions include: Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, CA (2022); 12.26, Dallas, TX (2020); Kasmin, New York, NY (2019), among others. Allen was recently the focus of her first institutional solo museum exhibition, Saturnine, which was held at the Kunsthal Aarhus in Denmark (2021). This exhibition was accompanied by a book of the same name, which also served as the first published monograph of Allen’s work. Traveling from Denmark, Allen’s first institutional solo exhibition in the U.S. was held at the Driehaus Museum in Chicago in 2022. Her next solo museum exhibition, Gimlet Eye, opened on November 18th, 2022 at the Huset for Kunst & Design, Holstebro, Denmark.
